My name is John Harney, and I’m the founder of Faunora — a skincare brand inspired by nature and guided by expertise.
I grew up on a small farm in County Roscommon, surrounded by cattle, sheep, hens, and ducks. Our animals roamed freely on lush pasture, and we grew much of our food organically. That upbringing instilled in me a respect for health, sustainability, and natural living. The richness of what we raised and harvested wasn’t just nourishing, it was grounding, and it shaped the values that still guide me today.
Years later, I faced a personal challenge: persistent dry, red, and irritated skin. The products I tried were disappointing, often full of harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances, leaving my skin sore and sensitive. I wanted something that was both effective and kind to the skin, and I couldn’t find it.
That search became the seed of Faunora. The name, a blend of Fauna and Flora, represents a return to nature’s essentials.
To bring Faunora to life, I immersed myself in learning. I completed specialist formulation courses, collaborated with experienced skincare professionals, and refined my knowledge through their guidance. Together, we explored the balance of natural butters, oils, and botanicals — drawing on both science and tradition.
The result was a nourishing cream that calmed inflammation, soothed redness, and restored my skin. And when I used it on my two-year-old daughter during a winter flare-up, the results were immediate. Her skin was softened and comforted overnight. That moment confirmed what I already knew: this product matters.
